Workshops 2024
The Arduino is a small, cheap, open-source microprocessor platform that is designed to allow anyone to explore the possibilities of automation and robotics.
Our courses and workshops are STEM-based educational demonstrations of how to program the Arduino microprocessor. These structured, yet informal sessions are hands-on and are designed to empower the participants with enough knowledge to be able to build their own robots and gadgets.
We do not have an age limit. Anyone with basic keyboard and mouse skills will be able to build and program our simple explanatory projects.
Introductory Workshop
This one-off session is a taste-tester and introduction to the Arduino microprocessor and programming using ArduBlock, a “drag and drop” interface.
No previous experience required.
Participants under 12 are expected to be accompanied by an adult. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children at no additional cost.

Soldering Workshop
This ninety minute workshop will teach the basics of soldering as participants put together a InfraRed Signal Detector that they will be able to take away with them at the end of the session.
No previous experience required.
Participants under 12 are expected to be accompanied by an adult. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children at no additional cost.

Online Courses
The online courses are conducted via Zoom and cover the same content as the Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced courses.
These sessions require participants to have their own computer with the Arduino and Ardublock software installed, and a Techspace Learning Arduino Kit.
These can be purchased by contacting us at info@techspacelearning.org. Once purchased, this custom kit can be picked up in the Adelaide CBD, or can be mailed to anywhere in Australia for an additional cost.
In the event that the course is not what was expected, the kit can be returned to us for a refund. The Techspace Learning Arduino kit has all the components required for the complete Beginners course (eight weeks). A Techspace Learning Extension kit is required for the Beginners 2 and Intermediate courses.

Beginners 1 Course
The Beginners 1 Course is aimed at participants who may have little to no experience in microprocessor programming. The course aims to empower the participants with enough knowledge to make their own basic projects using ArduBlock on the Arduino platform.
Beginners 2 Course
The course continues on from the Beginners course and adds more complex devices and methods to achieve much more with the Arduino. These sessions still use the ArduBlock programming system. Participants must have completed our Beginners course to qualify for these sessions.

Intermediate 1 Course
This course shows participants how to program the Arduino using the native C-based language of the Arduino IDE. Basic digital theory is included in the course. This is a good starting point for participants with some prior experience with the Arduino.

Intermediate 2 Course
This course shows participants how to program the Arduino using the native C-based language of the Arduino IDE. Completion of our Robotics Intermediate 1 course is recommended as a pre-requisite for this course.

Advanced 1 Course
The Advanced course will expand the participants knowledge of the more complex techniques, modules and devices that are available for the Arduino platform and demonstrating how to use them. Moderate knowledge of Arduino programming is required.
